The Parish Council has received the following update from Hampden Fields regarding the closure of New Road:

CLOSURE OF NEW ROAD, WESTON TURVILLE - UPDATE ON PROGRESS AND EXTENSION OF ROAD CLOSURE

Works are currently being undertaken on New Road, Weston Turville, between the Golf Club and Old Rickyard Piece to facilitate the installation of new highway and utlity infrastructure associated with the adjacent development.

The principal elements of the works completed to date include the diversion of existng gas mains and the installation of new foul sewer and surface water drainage. The works have experienced delays, with the most recent programme indicating completion and reopening of the road by 1st February. However, due to a combination of unforeseen circumstances and prolonged periods of adverse weather, this date can no longer be achieved
and the road will remain closed beyond this date.

The gas diversion works are now complete, with the final gas mains diversion commissioned on Monday 26th January. All foul sewer and surface water drainage works have also been completed.

The remaining works comprise the reconstruction of approximately 300 metres of the existing New Road carriageway, the final installation of the consented culverts, and the construction of two new junctions connecting New Road to the permanent diversion route through the new development.
Progress on the remaining works is dependent on prevailing weather and ground conditions. As such, it is not currently possible to confirm a definitive reopening date. The contractor continues to progress the works as efficiently as practicable, including weekend working where appropriate, with the intention of reopening the road by 11th February.

The continued closure is necessary to allow the works to be completed safely. We apologise for the inconvenience caused and thank residents and road users for their continued patience. If the extended closure gives rise to any specific access requirements, affected parties are invited to contact the undersigned to discuss arrangements.
Kind regards,
Jake Treliving
